Jun. 9, 2012 - MOREHEAD CITY NORTH CAROLINA TRIP Dive the “Graveyard of the Atlantic” with Giant Stride Dive Shop. I come back here every year because the diving is that good. Great wrecks, Sand Tiger Sharks, good pricing and great viz! The first leg of the trip when we start diving is Saturday 6/9 - Saturday 6/16 diving out of Olympus Dive Center on awesome wrecks at 80 to 130 fsw, viz is 40 to 100 ft. Water temp. is in the 80's! You can view the wrecks we will dive at www.olympusdiving.com I drive down so I can take my own tanks and gear. (you can rent tanks and lead from Olympus if you Fly & don't want to drive.) Morehead is a 14 hour drive. Must have an Advanced Open Water Cert., SMB, safety sausage or liftbag, whistle and redundsant airsource. Hyperbaric Insurance is also mandatory! We did some island adventures....swam with ferrel pigs, freedived Thunderball Cave from the James Bond movie, we fed grapes to purple Bahamian Iguannas, had dinner with sharks (actually THEY had dinner while we watched) Join us next December 1st for fun, adventure and more dives in a week than most of you have ever done in a month. We night dive every night and finish up the trip with a dive in the Washing Machine.....the coolest, craziest drift dive in a vortex of 2 1/2 knot current where the channel narrows down to a bottleneck like ravine.....it's not very scenic but it IS a blast!
