We can remain at the U Boat for the second dive or vote on another wreck by those aboard according to conditions. This Charter, Canned Air, and Giant Stride Dive Shop, requires an advanced cert. with some experience diving to depths greater than 100 ft. in New England (or similar) waters. A redundant air source, lift bag or safety sausage, and whistle or horn is required. Pony bottles and regs are available to rent. Cost is $140.00 per diver and only 4 spots are available. Reservations are made by full pre-payment that is non refundable. If you cancel your reservation you forfeit the full payment. May 21, 2012 - PADI Wreck Diver Specialty Certification Class. Instructor: John Langella Prerequisites: Minimum age:15 and Advanced Certification. Cost: $400: Includes books, a loaner instructional DVD and certification for PADI Wreck Diver Specialty. Diving submerged wrecks is exciting and rewarding requiring skills beyond basic scuba to do so efficiently and safely. The Wreck Diver Specialty certification course is designed to train divers how to research and evaluate wrecks, develop practical knowledge of wreck diving, and how to plan, organize and make wreck dives and penetrations. This course entails two classroom sessions and four dives. Students are expected to provide their own personal dive equipment suitable for each dive. In addition to normal scuba equipment and appropriate exposure protection, students are expected to have: 2 dive lights, a penetration reel, a line spool, a lift bag, a safety sausage, slates, appropriate knife/line cutting tool and redundant air supply (ie. pony tank & regulator). Class Schedule: (classes are at Giant Stride Dive Shop) Classroom #1: Monday, May 21: 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm. Meet the instructor and review course and equipment requirements and schedules. Classroom #2: Wednesday, May 30: 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm. Turn in all paperwork, go over knowledge reviews and practice reel techniques. Idene & Block Island Pinnacles Charter We will leave the dock at 7:00am to dive the Idene, a steel fishing vessel 120 feet long,that stands upright and intact in 85-90 feet of seawater (FSW) The deck of this vessel is at about 70 FSW. Visability is usually 20' or better making this an awesome wreck dive followed by a dive on the Block Island Pinnacles. Must have an advanced certification or have logged more than 25 dives in our waters (please bring c card or log book in when you sign up). Required equiptment: SMB or safe-t-sausage, Whistle and light. Cost: $140.00 Reservations are made by full pre-payment that is non refundable. Jun. 9, 2012 - MOREHEAD CITY NORTH CAROLINA TRIP Dive the “Graveyard of the Atlantic” with Giant Stride Dive Shop. I come back here every year because the diving is that good. Great wrecks, Sand Tiger Sharks, good pricing and great viz! The first leg of the trip when we start diving is Saturday 6/9 - Saturday 6/16 diving out of Olympus Dive Center on awesome wrecks at 80 to 130 fsw, viz is 40 to 100 ft. Water temp. is in the 80's! You can view the wrecks we will dive at www.olympusdiving.com I drive down so I can take my own tanks and gear. (you can rent tanks and lead from Olympus if you Fly & don't want to drive.)
